Ayabulela Yokwana
Founder & Chief Educator
Ayabulela Yokwana pioneered gaming-based digital literacy for underserved Africa, achieving zero dropout rates where traditional programs see 30–50% attrition. With AWS Education Equity Initiative backing, he scaled operations to serve 60+ active learners across multiple schools in Smithfield, Free State, through a community-integrated educational model.
FunHouse Digital demonstrates that sustainable, high-impact EdTech is possible in resource-constrained environments. By combining gaming, digital skills training, and community trust, Aya has built a replicable model for delivering measurable learning outcomes across underserved markets in rural Africa.
Who We Are
FunHouse Digital operates AWS-validated gaming lounges that achieve sustainable profitability while delivering measurable digital literacy outcomes in underserved rural markets in South Africa.
FunHouse Digital operates 100% attendance-driven programming across formal MOUs with partner schools, generating 56% organic enrollment growth through peer advocacy alone. Our 3-station rotation methodology combines typing mastery, algorithmic thinking, and strategic analysis to deliver accelerated digital fluency in underserved environments.
Our cross-subsidy model transforms entertainment spending into sustainable education funding, creating permanent community assets that operate independently — proving that social enterprise and profitability are not mutually exclusive.
Founder's Vision
Ayabulela Yokwana founded FunHouse Digital after recognising that traditional EdTech approaches fail in rural contexts. With R50,000+ personal investment and 10+ years of technical development, he built a bootstrap-profitable model that achieves community trust ("Mr. Aya" status).
Operating from Smithfield, Yokwana has demonstrated that sustainable social enterprises require authentic local integration combined with enterprise-grade infrastructure to create lasting impact.
